Incat Tasmania launches 100-Metre Buccoo Reef ship for Trinidad and Tobago

Incat Tasmania’s newest ship, the 100 metre vessel dedicated for Trinidad and Tobago, was floated out from Incat’s drydock on Hobart’s Derwent River on October 9 and will continue beside the shipyard wharf for machine commissioning throughout October.

Incat Tasmania’s newest ship, the 100 metre vessel dedicated for Trinidad and Tobago, was floated out from Incat’s drydock on Hobart’s Derwent River on October 9 and will continue beside the shipyard wharf for machine commissioning throughout October.

Australian shipbuilder Incat initiated development of Buccoo Reef spring 2019, all central machinery and accessories has now been installed and concurrently with electronic systems are being commissioned and examined in the predisposition for sea trials in November.

The ship, Incat’s hull 094, will be given later this year for maintenance on the Seabridge connecting Port of Spain, Trinidad and Scarborough, Tobago.

The traveller deck with space for 1000 persons is divided into three lounges which include a range of bars and food service sections unitedly with passenger toilet amenities.

The expansive carrier deck extends 175 full height Truck Lane Metres plus room for 182 cars, or if trucks are not carried the ship can contain 239 vehicles. Rider passage from the vehicle deck to the passenger level is via stairs or lift. The ship design also involves cabins to include up to 14 crews.

Buccoo Reef will attain a top speed of over 40 knots with powering by 4 MAN 16V 28/33 STC marine diesel generators each fixed at 7280kW, Wartsila WXJ 1200 SRI waterjets and ZF 53500NR2H gearboxes.

Commuter pleasure is heightened with a Naiad Dynamics active ride command system coupling active trim tabs aft and a retractable T-foil located at the aft end of the middle bow.

Icant Tasmania is one of the oldest ship making company in the region, which is making larger ships since 1977. Headquarters are based in Tasmania and focuses on Australia continent. The company is specialised in making speed ships built by aluminium. The firm initially setup its first ship building workshop in 1970 and became a registered company in 1977.
