Date set for Grenada 2018 general election
Prime Minister Keith Mitchell ‘confident’ of victory

People in Grenada will head to the the polls on 13 March after the prime minister announced the general election date.
Parliament will be dissolved today.
Speaking at a rally for his New National Party last night, Keith Mitchell said that ‘nomination day’ would be 20 February.
Mitchell spoke of his confidence at remaining in office.
At the last election, the NNP defeated the incumbent National Democratic Congress party lead by then-Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, picking up all 15 seats in parliament.
In November 2017, Mitchell said his party would once agin be “going for all the seats”.“We go play very greedy,” he told supports in St Andrew.
There has so far been no comment form the National Democratic Congress on the date of elections.
