India has started an Oxygen Express to transport the gas to states that need it
At least 22 Covid patients have died in India after losing oxygen supply due to a leak. On Wednesday, the incident took place while an oxygen tank was refilling a storage tank at Zakir Hussain Hospital in Nashik city. It is unclear how the accident happened and why it interrupted the supply to patients. According to officials, no oxygen flowed to ventilators for about 30 minutes, leading to death.

"We will investigate and act on the matter," said the city's municipal commissioner, Kailash Jadhav.

The hospital called in tankers after the oxygen started to run out. Hospitals across the country are struggling to keep the oxygen supply going amid rising demand.

"We want to take strict action against the culprits," stated Amol Vyavhare, whose grandmother was one of the patients who died of oxygen deficiency.

Vicky Jadhav, whose grandmother was also among the deceased, said she was doing well when he left the hospital to bring her food.

'Then I called that she had become critical. When I asked hospital authorities, they said there was no oxygen left in the hospital. '

Maharashtra, where Nashik is located, is one of the states of India worst affected by a coronavirus and has a huge shortage of oxygen.
