Martinez-Soliman said UNDP heads impressed with drop in homicide rate in St Kitts-Nevis

Resident Representative at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Barbados and the OECS, Magdy Martinez-Soliman said that all progress within the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis stems from the protection of its citizens’ lives and property in order for its most important resource – the people – to strive.
During the official launch of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Incident Form programme held at the Police Training School on September 18 he said that due to crime being so prevalent in the Caribbean with its negative impacts on economic and social well-being, he celebrated when the information was announced of the significant drop in homicides as this will help to secure and empower the people of Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Martinez-Soliman continued by stating that this drop in the homicide rate is “a major success that we are certain will be continued.”
It is important for these kinds of successes because, as Martinez-Soliman warned, “tourism and Foreign Investment are regrettably quick on their feet and easily frightened” as they are the two of the most affected industries when there are high levels of crime in a country.
Martinez-Soliman said it is their hope that the Incident Form programme launched on Wednesday will significantly enhance the efficiency of the police force.
