England weather: Towns and villages flooded after further rain

Sunday, 22nd December 2019

Many homes have been overwhelmed, and towns left submerged after pieces of England were again deluged by the determined downpour.

The Environment Agency has 84 flood alerts over the South, the Midlands, the East and Yorkshire, which means quick activity is required.

The River Medway in Kent burst its banks, and there is severe flooding in East Sussex.

Homes and gardens were harmed when a tornado hit Surrey on Saturday.

Voyagers setting out on the Christmas escape have been encouraged to check their courses ahead of time.

The Medway has overwhelmed towns and towns including Maidstone, Yalding and Teston. Alfriston, in East Sussex, has been overflowed.

Autos in the town have been cleared away by the water, and the Environment Agency cautions there is more downpour gauge for Tuesday 24 December.

The tornado struck various houses in the Chertsey zone, as indicated by firemen.

Inhabitant Verity Boultwood said it brushed the rooftop off her studio. Philip Passey said he "solidified" when he saw the tornado, which he pondered 40 seconds.

"A trampoline lifted open to question, similar to it gauged nothing, and was tossed over the nursery.

"My little girl came the first floor and said the shed rooftop had gone," Mr Passey said.

The tornado came after streets were overwhelmed and rail lines obstructed on Friday.

The M23 was shut between intersections 10 and 11 in the two bearings in West Sussex, yet later revived.

Parkways England has encouraged drivers to adjust their driving for wet climate by backing off, holding admirably once again from the vehicle in front and dialling down the quickening agent if directing gets inert.
