Donald Trump and Melania Trump tests positive for COVID-19

Friday, 2nd October 2020

President of the United States, Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump, have tested positive for the COVID-19. The test results arrived late evening and they are most likely to get into quarantine from now onwards.

The president had undergone a test after one of his most senior advisor Hope Hicks, caught the infection. Hicks had travelled with the President on various tours this week including outside Marine One, the presidential helicopter, and Air Force One. It isn’t instantly clear how Trump caught the virus that has contaminated over 7 million Americans and killed more than 200,000.

As per Reuters said Trump had a severe travel plan across the nation in recent weeks, including gatherings with thousands of people for the November 3rd presidential elections, notwithstanding advice from public health experts against having events with large crowds.

The New York Times reported that the President had a tight schedule for Friday morning including presence at a private fund-raiser at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, a rally in Florida a conversation with “vulnerable seniors” about the disease the COVID-19.

The infection would affect Trump’s strength to his operations in person for the presidential elections. There is no evidence from his office if he would continue to address events over video.
