Trinidad & Tobago: The United National Congress condemned, in the strongest possible terms, a baseless, inappropriate and objectionable comment by Natalee Legor on CNC 3's Morning Brew program, saying UNC's leadership tried to encourage chaos similar to the US capitol.

The UNC has always stood for democracy. The post-election 2020 statements were the ones that legally guarantee us to question electoral irregularities by our constitution, as provided for in any liberal democracy.

"Legor is out to believe that she can chastise the opposition to use constitutional responsibility to address these serious issues," the statement read.

Instead of fomenting a horrific attack on the United National Congress, PRO of UNC, Dr Kirk Meighoo said that he takes the time to remind Legor that it was not UNC that prevented foreign and Commonwealth observers from coming to their shores. "I take time to remind the host that it is not UNC that is today leading a government that is breaking and eroding the human rights, standard of living, and welfare of our country. To enable the government to government corruption, it is not UNC that rejected the Purchase Act," he added.

Meighoo alleged that Legore consistently displays a clear political bias on the program, and it is no surprise that her views are in complete alignment with the Heliconia Foundation's recent statements. However, it is the right of every citizen to exercise free speech and to have political priorities, that Legor must express her political views in such an offensive, aggressive and provocative way that the line of justification for shows like Morning Brew crosses That which purifies - and possibly attempts - to be politically nonaligned.

It is careless and turbulent when commentators in the public domain choose to make inflammatory statements in an attempt to disparage and disparage and taint the UNC to pursue a clear political trend.

We at UNC will continue to fight for peace, bread, and justice. We will not join this fight for the betterment of our citizens, who want to maintain the current status quo, which is bringing hardship for our people on a daily basis.

"We ask LeGore to apologize to the United National Congress for her provocative and false accusations," he concluded.
