The mandate applies to all businesses with more than 100 workers. Biden said that all major businesses in the country should ensure vaccination of their workers or be tested weekly for the coronavirus.
Not only this, companies have to offer paid time off to get their employees vaccinated. The same applies to the federal government, including those who work with the executive and as contractors for the federal government.
Biden urged governors to make the vaccination mandatory for school district staff as well. He also announced that free COVID tests would be available for more than 10,000 pharmacies. The home covid tests are offered on Amazon, Walmart and Kroger and that too at lower costs. The new vaccine mandate has received mixed responses, with many Republican members calling the path "unconstitutional" and "un-American." They also said they plan to reduce the bid administration. Republican Gov. Tate Reeves, Mississippi, said the vaccine saves lives in itself and that the movement is unconstitutional and frightening. Reeves took to Twitter to write that we as Americans believe in the freedom of tyrants.
Meanwhile, companies, manufacturers associations and tech companies have welcomed the path so far. Due to the months of pandemic-induced economic losses and disruptions, Association leaders said they were working with the president to implement the mandate in the United States.
