A Texas law banning abortion after six weeks of pregnancy took effect on Wednesday night. Immediately after the law was enforced, some people started to stockpile contraceptives and pregnancy kits.
Minutes before midnight, in a 5-4 verdict, the Supreme Court rejected an appeal by abortion rights to stop Texas law.
Makayla Montoya Frazier founded the Buckle Bunnies organization in April 2020, just after Texas Governor Greg Abbott banned temporary abortions during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Montya Frazier organization focuses on supporting abortion clinics and gives financial assistance and transportation to those looking to get abortions.
Now volunteers of Montaya Frazier are contraceptives, pregnancy tests and Plan B pills for women who are taking forethoughts. Plan B includes the hormone levonorgestrel, which can hinder ovulation and fertilization or implantation of a fertilized egg in the uterus.
Being a sex worker, Montaya Frazier usually stockpiles contraceptives and HIV testing kits for her fellow colleagues looking for extra protection.
The Texas abortion law is being opposed by women all across the United States of America. Even social Organizations are looking at it as a law aiming to suppress the rights of women who wish to live their lives on their terms.
People also went out on streets, demanding the Supreme Court to take back their ruling, however the court continued their proceedings and allowed the legislation to pass anyway.
