Port-of-Spain: The People's National Movement led government of Trinidad and Tobago have cleared the air on the field hospital donation made by the United States of America.
PNM stated that the opposition is pretending to make it look like the field hospitals came because of their (oppositions) efforts, while the donation has been made by the US as a result of an agreement made in September 2020.
The ruling party stated that the field hospitals arrived in Trinidad and Tobago last month and have nothing to do with the United National Congress.
"The real problem with the UNC saying the field hospitals are a result of their intervention is that they actually expect to get people to believe that it could be done in two days." stated the People's National Movement.
PNM stated that the opposition is taking these resorts to the naked lie in the hope of getting political credit and are not only barren of ideas, but they will 'take' some credit if they think the opportunity arises.
The ruling party also alleged that the opposition Leader was passing outside Couva Hospital and saw the field hospital going up, which happened after the government spoke about expanding bed space for patients who require a lower level of patient care, as Dr Parasram mentioned last week.
"She discovered what it was and that it came from the US. She then went on her platform and, as she did with her infamous letter to Prime Minister Modi, made a call to the government to ask the US for a field hospital (after she saw it in Couva) then framed a press release to give herself credit for bringing it about." stated the People's National Movement.
The government also called it shameless and disrespectful of the intelligence of citizens in this country.
