Philip J. Pierre sworns in as the 8th Prime Minister of St Lucia
The Leader of St Lucia Labour Party - SLP, Phillip J Pierre, has sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Saint Lucia on 28 July 2021, after a massive victory of 13 seats from 17 seats.

UWP - United Workers Party only managed to win two seats out of 17 constituency assemblies this time, while the independent candidates have won the other two seats.
The general elections were conducted on 26 July 2021 peacefully. The citizens of St Lucia took part and cast their vote with full enthusiasm.
The newly sworn-in Prime Minister has a lot of challenges ahead of him for the development of the island country. PM Pierre earlier cited, "The only way of restoring our nation to economic and financial stability is to develop the economy by facilitating job creation in the private sector, placing money more in the hands of workers & strengthening the capacity of the revenue collection agencies of the government."The Prime Minister of Antigua & Barbuda and also the Chairman of CARICOM - Gaston Browne, via a letter, congratulated the newly appointed Prime Minister of St Lucia, and noted that he is looking forward to work with him.
PM Browne, in his letter, cited, "The people of St Lucia have entrusted you to lend your voice to the discussion and policies that govern the region through an institution such as the organization of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM)."
