Trinidad: Woman found dead behind her home a week after being reported missing

Trinidad and Tobago: A missing woman has been found dead behind her home in Guaico Tamana, Trinidad and Tobago. Linder Alexander, a 73-year-old pensioner, was reported missing earlier last week on Monday, August 3, 2026.

Linder’s body was located approximately 500 feet behind her home in Guaico Tamana in a large precipice and a river.

According to the reports, she was last seen by her family members on Monday, after she left home to collect a hamper. She was later reportedly seen between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Tuesday in front of Scotiobank, Sangre Grande and another eyewitness noted that they saw her heading towards the Sangre Grande Market.

Linder did not return home and was subsequently reported missing to police.

The Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT) led the search investigations under the leadership of Commander Shamsudeen Ayube, and after several days of searching by family members, villagers, concerned citizens, police officers from the Sangre Grande Police Station.

The official reports by the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT) noted that, “During the ongoing search, Commander Shamsudeen Ayube personally located Linder’s body, leading to the recovery and retrieval effort.”

Search teams had previously checked several areas, including Sangre Grande Hospital, Blake Avenue, sections of the Mayaro Main Road, and surrounding areas, as everyone continued hoping to find Linder safely. Sadly, despite the extensive efforts, Linder was found deceased.

Ayube also thanked the villagers, concerned citizens, family members, police officers, and everyone who assisted, provided information, shared the missing-person appeal, or supported the search in any way.

“Your efforts and support were deeply appreciated,” the team noted.
