Soca Artist Dexter 'Blaxx' Stewart passes away due to COVID-19

The famous Soca singer Dexter 'Blaxx' Stewart succumbed to COVID-19 on Monday. The information was confirmed by his manager Giselle Gellineau-Penrose. He was only 59-years-old.He had been hospitalized due to a coronavirus-related illness earlier and was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Arima hospital in east Trinidad. However, his health experienced no major improvements. Notably, even in 2020, Stewart was hospitalized due to lung and kidney-related medical difficulties.Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Keith Rowley, sent out condolences to his family and friends. "Condolences on the Passing of Dexter 'Blaxx' Stewart, he has been a regular talented exponent of the happy musical culture of Trinidad and Tobago. His contributions were eagerly awaited each year and appreciated by hordes of adoring fans. He will be sorely missed," wrote the Prime Minister. Leader of Opposition Kamla Persad Bissessar also shared a condolences message on her Facebook account. The entire country is mourning the passing of their beloved singer and shared messages on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
