PM Mottley pays tribute to photographer Gordon Brooks
Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley paid her condolences to renowned photographer Gordon Brooks, who died at the age of 81 last Tuesday.

Barbados: Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley paid her condolences to renowned photographer Gordon Brooks, who died at the age of 81 last Tuesday.
In along tribute message, she acknowledges his work & contribution to the country.
She said, "Gordon, whose career with the camera dates back to the 1960s, made a name for himself and for Barbados with some of the finest photography to be found anywhere — but particularly in the coverage of cricket, wherever in the world; the West Indies team played."
She further added that his working often with another icon of international cricket reporting, the late Tony Cozier, Gordon always operated at the top of his game, all the time maintaining a quiet, affable and respectable personality.
"Indeed, while he did not wear the whites of the West Indies team, Gordon, from behind his lens, was always the quintessential gentleman of cricket. And, I may add, of life." PM Mottley noted.
She also stated that but even without his camera, Gordan’s contribution to Barbados cannot be minimized. As a long-standing director of the Nation Publishing Co. Limited, he worked to raise the standard of journalism in Barbados while building what has become a potent symbol of the power of Black business in Barbados and the Caribbean.
PM Mottley paid her support to Gordon Brooks wife and his children Enrico, Randy and Makeeba.

Marsha, a resident of Barbados, said, " And the rains came, with it thunder and lightning as the nation moaned with you at the loss of two great sons of the soil! One a brother to you, the other a brother to the country. Both equally cherished and loved. May God wrap his everlasting arms around you and your family and Gordon and his family at this time as we wait for the sun to shine again, one day soon. "
Brome, another resident, added, "Sincere condolences to his family, especially his wife and children. He will rest in peace & rise in glory."
