Tragedy struck last evening (Oct. 22) when two young men in Nevis were gunned down at Sunshine's Beach Bar by an unknown assailant. The men are Xavia Howell and Shaheem (surname unknown at press time), who were said to be ambushed by a masked gunman while sitting on a bench at the beach bar around 11:00 p.m.
Xavia, who was popularly known for his funny home videos and skits, is the son of former Ms Culture Queen Cavelle Swanston-Howell and Patrick Daddy play Howell.
Upon receiving the tragic news, his father made a passionate plea on social media via video for friends of his son to not retaliate after this tragedy as his son was not a gang member. The police is thoroughly investigating the incident and checking out nearby surveillance cameras. No person has been taken into custody so far.
The occurrence left everyone in shock as the government had a peace treaty with the gang members to reduce the crime. In the last few years, incidents of homicides reduced drastically, but this new incident in Nevis is an indication that gun violence is again back in St Kitts and Nevis.
