Vance Amory- Ambassador and former Premier of Nevis, was awarded the honour of a state funeral on Saturday at the Elquemedo Willett Park in Nevis

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Vance Amory- Ambassador and former Premier of Nevis, was awarded the honour of a state funeral on Saturday at the Elquemedo Willett Park in Nevis. His casket was draped in the flag of St Kitts and Nevis. Many people from across the twin-island country gathered to pay tribute to the leader who paid a key role in the country's politics and development Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris stated that Late Amory was the embodiment of the motto "country above self". He was the embodiment of our Motto "Country Above Self," said Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris. Among those who have joined the family at service were Governor-General Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton, Prime Minister Timothy Harris, Deputy Prime Minister Shawn Richards Premier Mark Brantley, Former PM Denzil L. Douglas and several other members of the Federal Cabinet and Nevis Island Administration.

Several representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps, as well as friends and loved ones of the former Premier of Nevis, Senior Minister in the Federal Government, were also present at the funeral.

Former Premier of Nevis Vance Amory passed away on April 02, 2022, in London, United Kingdom. He had been undergoing treatment for cancer.

Amory was one of the founding fathers of the Team Unity government, and he was also the founder of the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM).

Days after Ambassador's death, his daughter Abeena had shared a heartfelt message, stating that he was the most amazing father, and a man of honour.  She stated that he "would always stay in their hearts forever and ever".

Amory's body was transported to St Kitts and Nevis on a British Airways flight from London on 20 April.
