St Kitts and Nevis introduces no contact drive thru COVID-19 testing

As the new variants of COVID-19 are being identified globally, the smallest country of the Western Hemisphere has eased the process of coronavirus testing. St Kitts and Nevis on Friday introduced a drive-thru testing facility, where the persons are not even required to step out of their cars to give out samples.

The Health Ministry stated that it is increasing testing options for those who are suffering COVID-like symptoms.

Dr Hazel Laws, Chief Medical Officer, indicated that car park COVID-19 testing will now be available for free for one hour at three main sites around the island.

In the beginning, weekly car park testing will be implemented for one hour; Tuesdays at the Basseterre Health Centre, Wednesdays at the Pogson Hospital, and Thursdays at the Mary Charles Hospital are the days for the appointments. On the selected days, testing will take place at all sites from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

To use this free, simple service, people must be experiencing COVID-like symptoms. If a person have a fever, sore throat, sniffles, coughing, or believe they've been exposed to COVID, they can go to the Basseterre Health Centre Car Park, Mary Charles Hospital Car Park, or Pogson Hospital Car Park. Currently, there are 183 active COVID-19 cases in St. Kitts and Nevis right now.
