Tuesday, 30th November 2021

Premier of Nevis and leader of Concerned Citizens Movement Mark Brantley congratulated Dr Terrance Drew on his appointment as the leader of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party.

Brantley shared a long note on his Facebook, extending congratulations to Dr Terrance Drew. He stated St Kitts and Nevis, like any strong democracy, needs robust public debate and discussion rooted in the public interest.

"I am to hope that Dr Drew will add to that rich tapestry of the cut and thrust of ideas that has always defined our body politic," said Brantley.

Furthermore, he also congratulated the St Kitts Nevis Labour Party, which has had a transfer of leadership in an orderly and democratic fashion following their own traditions. He said it was an orderly transition seen in my own CCM Party and other parties in St Kitts and Nevis.

"Despite our political differences, I believe that these events speak eloquently that democracy is alive and well in our beloved Federation," said Brantley.

St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party is a leading opponent of the country. On Sunday, a new leader was elected during a major conference; all delegates, labour units contributed to the election by casting a ballot. While Dr Terrance Drew received the majority, other candidates Konaris Maynard and Geoffrey Henley, were appointed as the deputy leaders of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party.
