A newborn baby boy was discovered abandoned in the trash bin of a plane's toilet in Mauritius by airport employees. A 20-year-old lady from Madagascar was arrested on suspicion of giving birth during the trip.
On January 1, the Air Mauritius plane arrived from Madagascar and landed at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport. When airport police screened the jet for a usual customs check, they discovered the problem.
The finding was revealed by airport officials at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport during a regular customs examination of the Air Mauritius plane after it arrived in Port Louis from Madagascar.
The baby was brought to a public hospital for treatment. The woman suspected of being the child's mother was forced to undergo a medical check, which revealed she had just given birth.
At the hospital, she was placed under police supervision. She and the baby are stated to be in good health.
After her release from the hospital, the Malagasy woman in Mauritius on a two-year work permit will be questioned and charged with abandoning a newborn.
It is uncommon for babies to be born aboard flights, but it does happen. A woman gave birth on a flight to Hawaii in May of last year, even though she had no knowledge she was pregnant.
"He just appeared out of nowhere," Lavinia says. During a virtual interview with Hawaii Pacific Health, "Lavi" Mounga stated.
On an EgyptAir trip from Cairo to London a year ago, a woman delivered birth unexpectedly. The pilot decided to make an emergency landing in Munich, Germany, but thanks to the assistance of a doctor on board, the baby was born before landing.
