France reveals possible cause of Notre Dame blaze

Wednesday, 26th June 2019

French authorities after a two month preliminary investigation said in a statement that the devastating fire that ripped through Notre Dame cathedral in Paris was most likely started accidentally.

French investigators were examining many hypotheses "including a malfunctioning of the electrical system or a fire which started with a badly stubbed-out cigarette", statement further added.

No definitive cause has yet been found but it is believed. The authorities ruled out any criminal cause.

However there remains a possibility of prosecuting someone due to negligence.

A massive fire consumed Notre-Dame Cathedral on the evening of April 15, gutting the roof of the Paris landmark and stunning France and the world, though firefighters saved the main bell towers and outer walls from collapse before bringing the blaze under control.

The blaze raised numerous conspiracy theories, including the possibility that terrorists were responsible.
