Bright Black Fashion - A great platform for designers, models, makeup artists, photographers
Bright Black Fashion is a new international digital platform where talents in the fashion industry can find a space to show their skills on a series of online challenges. If they get selected as finalists on the platform, they will participate in the first season grand finale in Dubai in June 2022, where the winners of each one of the four categories will get to work for elite companies. The categories are Fashion designers, makeup artists, models and fashion photographers. Who are the women behind Bright Black Fashion? From the upcoming fashion industry in the middle east, two Latino women living in Dubai for the past eight years, Andrea Laguna from Colombia and Alicia Becerra from Argentina, came together during the last couple of years and started working to build a bridge between complementary markets and expand a search for opportunities and support emerging talent from around the world. Andrea Laguna is a Colombian singer with a background in business and finance that arrived in Dubai eight years ago with a contract to perform in different venues with musicians from all over the world and later became a freelance artist in UAE.

As time passed, living in a culture away from home, she saw many opportunities arise and started thinking about how to support people searching for new beginnings or searching to get new experiences entering a competitive international marketplace where constant improvement is the only way to succeed. "We want to give opportunities to talented people who haven't got the chance to show everything they can do in their industry", Andrea said. On the other hand, Alicia Becerra from San Luis, Argentina, is a businesswoman who had been working for a fashion designer in Dubai for the past four years and has always extended her efforts to help people overcome professional difficulties to improve their lives. There is so much talent and diversity all over the world, and many people work hard but don't get to the right place at the right time; all we want is to offer them that special opportunity," Alicia said.

"I haven't lived in many countries, but even if I have only experienced a few, that kind of exposure changes you; I see it not only on myself but almost everyone who goes through it… it opens your mind and network to become a better version of yourself and continue pursuing your dreams… at the very least, living in different countries gives a fresh perspective in life. So with Alicia (my partner), we put together connections in fashion and experience in entertainment to open as many doors as possible for others too," Andrea added.
How can people participate in the platform? "It is very simple, anyone can register on our website www.brightblackfashion.com or through the link in our Instagram @brightblackfashion, they select the category they want to participate in, and that's it. They will receive all the requirements via email for the category they selected and start the challenges for the selection team to begin the process," Andrea explained. What is the Bright Black Latin America Tour? The tour is looking to support and bring attention to the Bright Black Fashion platform and will happen in Latin American countries (Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and others), showcasing local and international designers and will begin for the first season in San Luis, Argentina, this next 07th of May 2022 in the convention centre La Punta. San Luis is a beautiful and desired tourist destination in Argentina, presenting a perfect scenario for the show. Michael Cinco, one of the biggest names in the fashion industry, a Filipino couture designer based in Dubai for more than twenty years and that has dressed celebrities like Beyonce, Jennifer López, Sofía Vergara, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, will be the headline designer of the show in San Luis alongside designers from the middle east like Salma Khan and brands like The Victor Closet as well as emerging designers from Latin America.

"We have to get the word out that there is a new opportunity for those who are serious in getting an opportunity to shine and show their work" Alicia commented on the tour. Which have been the major challenges you have faced creating and launching the platform? And how did you overcome them? "The biggest challenges came with the situation of the world in the last couple of years being so closed because of the pandemic and the uncertainty that brought… but it is now transforming into a strength when people are eager to reactive their lives and Bright Black Fashion comes in the perfect time to offer exactly that, a new beginning," Andrea said. How does Bright Black Fashion compares to other scouting platforms or competitions that we see out there on TV or other places? "Well… about that… all I can say is that any efforts to push and support new talents is always a positive, in my opinion.  For us, it is important to put all the focus on the talent and the participants, and by presenting Bright Black Fashion in the international arena, having contestants from all over the world and in different categories, it creates synergies in the industry that go beyond the contest itself". "Also, for the time being, the independent start of this platform has given us the freedom to adapt and evolve organically with the industry and our audience, without the pressure of a tight script, which tends to happen when presented on TV or screening platforms". Andrea added. If companies want to collaborate, sponsor and support the platform, how can they get involved with you in this era of digital marketing and reaching their audience through Bright Black Fashion? "Given the media collaborators we have right now (in Latin America and internationally), we can offer our sponsors an engaged, growing audience, and it is the way we will continue to support more and more talents around the world for this first season and the ones to come. They can write to us to the email brightblackfashion@gmail.com". ________ From your perspective, what does the new generation of talents look like in the fashion industry and will you remain solely in fashion or do you have plans to expand opportunities into other industries? The world has changed so much in the last decade with the rise of social media as part of our daily lives and more so in the last couple of years, where people look for inspiration and want to see more relatable and approachable fashion, and diversity is a big thing, which gives opportunity to a wider range of talents.  It is very exciting to see the evolution, inclusivity and consciousness that is taking place in the fashion industry". "And to answer your other question, we have amazing news coming soon, we will present our second platform that will be for talents in the music and entertainment industry! I can't wait!!… We will announce it after the grand finale of Bright Black Fashion in Dubai, in June 2022," Andrea said.
