100 people detained during anti-security law protest in France

Demonstrators opposing the security bills in Paris moved to streets where the clashes with police were seen. Around 95 people were detained during the protests, which were at times marked by extreme conflicts between demonstrators and police.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin declared that around 67 police officers were wounded, 48 of those in Paris which saw the most significant protest.

Over 50,000 people rolled out across the country, 5,000 of them in the capital, the Interior Ministry announced.

Twenty-five people, including two children, were taken into care in Paris, the prosecutor's office said.

The majority of the held in police administration are there for "participation in a group formed to do violence", the same source said, according to a paper drawn up at midnight.

The protests were held against police brutality in the country, as well as protesters demanding better economic security.

Almost 90 demonstration rallies were organised, with a procession in the capital Paris beginning just after 2 pm, with members holding banners that with slogans that reas, "Freedom , Equality, Fraternity, for whom?"

Darmanin thanked police, stating: "Thank you to the law and order force for mobilised today, sometimes in the face of violent individuals."

The unrest is over a global security bill that will made it unlawful to film and identify police officers with the intent to “harm their physical or psychological integrity".
