UNC's Member Parliament Arnold Ram launches beach clean up drive

The United National Congress MP Arnold Ram celebrated "World Earth Day" by launching a beach clean-up over the weekend. He said it is very important to initiate such drives to preserve the natural sites.

He said it is a time where climate and environmental literacy is immensely relevant, "It is important to note that conservation and restoration of our ecosystems, waterways and biodiversity require a decisive and collective effort,".

"This is especially so because the severity of the environmental disasters occurring on our Mother Earth is heavily dictated by anthropogenic (human-caused) activities. Industrial pollution, plastic pollution, soil erosion, planned land degradation, haphazard approach to urbanization all contribute to environmental issues," he furthermore added.

Furthermore, MP Ram said that people must be mindful that environmental protection actually aids in risk reduction, as it relates to natural disasters occurring within our territory.

"Our planet is simply amazing, but it needs our unified approach to help it thrive. In light of Earth Day 2022, MP Ram and The Staff of the Caroni Central Constituency Office strongly affirm our advocacy for the protection, conservation and restoration of our natural environment, and we encourage others to do the same and lead by example," he further added.
