He had earlier stated that the public CCTV cameras commissioned around Nevis are also capable of license plate recognition. Brantley stated that maintaining law and order to ensure citizens' safety and security is his utmost responsibility. Nevis Island Administration has been waiting to get the cameras installed since the COVID-19 pandemic; however due to some challenges the project was delayed. He praised Wakely Daniel, the Premier's Permanent Secretary, and Theon Drew, the NIA's Information Technology (IT) Department, for pushing the initiative forward despite the unusual obstacle caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Brantley stated that even though crime has not been topical in Nevis, it is a social phenomenon that can happen anytime, anywhere making it imperative to advance the surveillance system.Latest
