St Kitts and Nevis govt offers $35,000 reward to get info regarding fire at school

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: The government of St Kitts and Nevis has offered a reward of $35,000 for anyone who provides any leads regarding the fire that destroyed Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary School on March 18, 2022. 

As per initial police investigations, the fire was not an accident but it was intentionally carried out and the search is underway.

"I am deeply saddened to hear that the fire at Joshua Abadiah Williams Primary School was no accident but rather started maliciously. The children's education will now be affected. Those children will also be sad to know that persons who should play a role in protecting and upholding their lives, chose instead to destroy their place of learning. I urge anyone who has information that may help the police with their enquiries to step forward now. Our country's motto urges us to place #CountryAboveSelf Let's do just that and put our children's interests first by bringing to task the culprits, who through their actions, have harmed them," said PM Harris on Sunday evening.

A massive fire broke down at the Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary School on March 18, 2022, at around 10 pm. By the time fire department officials reached the incident, several classrooms were already engulfed in flames. So far, no arrests have been made, and the cause of the fire is also unknown. The government on Sunday announced the massive amount to anyone who provides information regarding an individual or any conspiracy leading to the tragic fire.  The school was long over when the fire broke down at 10 pm; it could have been a disaster if anything had happened during the school hours.  Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris quickly took note of the situation late at night on March 18, 2022, and ordered a thorough probe into the matter. Commissioner Brandy called on the public to help the police with investigations. He said any person who may have information that can move this investigation forward can call the Tabernacle Police Station by on 465-7227, or their nearest Police Station or the crime hotline at 707.
