Holness said that as the world realised, nobody is saved until everyone is safe during the pandemic; the same goes with climate change. Prime Minister said everyone must act responsibly to preserve the climate for current and future generations.
Jamaican Prime Minister stated that the small island countries are facing the consequences of climate change more than the bigger nations."While climate change affects all countries, the impact on small island developing states is proportionately greater, climate change threatens our very survival, we are at a pivotal moment in the history to get back on track," said the Jamaican Prime Minister.
He said Jamaica is doing its bit to reduce the carbon emission footprints, and more extensive support is required to reach the goals. He said the world could find global solutions in record time when everyone works together.
"We must act responsibly and with the ambition to preserve our environment," said PM Holness.Prime Minister Holness said climate change threatens the safety and security of the human generation. He said equity is critical to the world's response to climate change.
"Countries that have profited from carbon over decades have a responsibility to make resources and technology available to others to adapt and transition to low carbon economies," said the Prime Minister at COP26.
He said financing is required to tackle climate change, its impacts, losses and damages.
