Following the arrest of one of the most sought gang bosses in the nation on Sunday, Haitian police are still on high alert. According to the police, Ezéchiel Alexandre, also known as "Ze" and "Baz Pilat," who had been stationed at the southern entrance to the city, was detained by members of the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) of the National Police of Haiti (PNH).

According to the police, Junior Claude, a former police officer who was fired by the PNH in 2019, was with him at the time of his detention. Claude was also taken into custody by law authorities.

Police stated that Alexandre is charged with involvement in rape, armed robbery, illegal firearm possession, and assassination.

Following his arrest, his gang members incited fear and unrest in the community by firing automatic rifles, erecting burning tyre barriers, obstructing traffic, and calling for his release.

In Port-au-third Prince's district, the gangs also went to the streets, forcing drivers and pedestrians to flee the area quickly. In an effort to recover control of the situation, the PNH continued to deploy officers and a number of specialised units on Tuesday.
