PM Roosevelt Skerrit celebrates Creole Day with family
Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit celebrated Creole Day with his family on Friday. He shared photos on his social media accounts.

Skerrit stated that the creole culture, food, music and dance make Dominica very special. He also thanked God for blessings of protection amid a global pandemic.

What is Creole Day? Jounen Kwéyòl (Creole Day) is celebrated in Dominica on the last Friday of October. The day celebrates the mixed culture of the island along with the French/African language known on the island as Kwéyòl (Creole Day). The entire month of October is celebrated as the "heritage month" to celebrate the culture, food, language and associated with creole.Creole Day and Heritage month is a commemoration of diverse and rich Dominican culture. This year, due to the coronavirus, the celebrations were limited; however, usually, the day is celebrated with theatrical, musical and other performances around the island.
Creole Fashion The Dons and Divas'- A Fashion boutique owned by Melissa Poponne Skerrit also launches a new range of creole heritage clothing, hats, bags and jewellery each year to celebrate October month. The range titled "Creole Couture' 2021" was unveiled by Mrs Skerrit on 5 October. Friday was also the birthday of PM Roosevelt Skerrit's daughter Bella Skerrit, which was celebrated under the "Disney's Frozen Princess" theme. Hundreds of people showered her with birthday wishes on social media.
