T&T records 109 new COVID infections
The island country of Trinidad and Tobago has reported 109 new cases of the COVID-19 infection on August 2 2021, taking the total number of active novel coronavirus cases to 5,818, according to the COVID-19 situation report by T&T's Ministry of Health.

Trinidad and Tobago: The island country of Trinidad and Tobago has reported 109 new cases of the COVID-19 infection on August 2 2021, taking the total number of active novel coronavirus cases to 5,818, according to the COVID-19 situation report by T&T's Ministry of Health.
The report further notes that a total of 32,129 patients have been recovered from the deadly mutant, while around 314 patients are still in the hospital as of August 2 2021.
So far, the island country has recorded a total of 1092 deaths amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The report by the Health Ministry further notes that in total, 89 individuals are in the step-down facilities, 165 patients are in the state quarantine facilities. In comparison, a total of 5,306 individuals have isolated themselves at their respective homes.
As of August 2 2021, in the Caribbean island nation, a total of 395,743 individuals have received their first jab of the novel coronavirus vaccine, and in total 195, 086 individuals have received their second jab of the COVID-19 vaccine and are now fully vaccinated against the deadly virus.
On the other hand, 269,723 COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far in Trinidad and Tobago, out of which a total of 113,788 individuals were tested for the novel coronavirus at the private facilities and in total, 155,935 coronavirus tests were conducted at the public facilities, according to the COVID-19 report of the Health Ministry.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic emerged in Trinidad and Tobago, the nation reported in total 39,039 infection cases of the deadly mutant.
The samples of the newly confirmed 109 cases were taken during the time period of July 29 to August 1, 2021.
