It was reported that the 32-year-old victim named Suddean Hylton, otherwise called 'Piinky', is the aunt of a known gang leader in Jamaica and is also a gang member herself. She was said to be out on bail in connection with a murder charge.
The incident took place around 3 45 pm at the victim's business place named Lee and Chin Fashion Black Clothes Store.
According to the information, the preliminary investigations revealed that the three men armed with handguns immediately opened gunfire at the woman, hitting her several times, following which they fled from the place in a white Toyota Axio motorcar.
Hylton was discovered by her relatives lying on the floor with her face down inside her shop with multiple gunshots to her upper body and head. The relatives immediately informed the police officials, who, upon arrival, processed the scene.
The police recovered ten .45 spent casings, 25 9mm spent casings, four .40 spent casings, five damaged bullets, eight bullet fragments, one blood sample and one cell phone.
The victim was taken to the Savanna-la-mar Public General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Area 1, Clifford Chambers, while informing the public, said that the victim was charged with murder, was out on bail and was to stay out of St James. He also said that the murder might be a result of a gang conflict in the division of St James police.
