St Kitts: Two ‘shooting with intent’ incidents investigated

Police in St Kitts and Nevis are looking into two shooting incidents that occurred before the end of 2017.

Both have been labelled ‘shootings with intent’, and are believed to be unrelated.

Officers received a report of shots fired at about 8.23am on 29 December in the Pond Road area of Basseterre.

“Investigations so far have revealed that Marlo Martin was driving across Pond Road going west while in the vicinity of Neverson Street when an unknown assailant opened fire causing damage to the vehicle,” a statement from the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force said.

Martin escaped unhurt, it added.

The second incident on the federation’s biggest island took place later that day.

Gunshots were heard just after 10pm in Trafalgar village, and police rushed to the scene.

According to officials, two people were sat in Cardin Avenue when two gunmen opened fire.

The suspects are yet to be identified.

Nobody was hurt in the shooting but a two vehicles suffered damage.
