Members of the Police High Command and the Regional Security System (RSS) Forces attended lunch on Dec. 25 with Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris.

“It was my esteemed pleasure to be in the company of these hardworking men and women spreading Christmas cheer to them over a Christmas lunch,” Prime Minister Harris said. “They are a dedicated people who have put our country’s interests above their own. As we celebrate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, there was not a better way to show them my Government’s and my own appreciation for the work they are doing and their dedication.”

Prime Minister Harris observed that members of the local forces along with the visiting members of the Regional Security System (RSS), who have been in the country since October, have worked diligently to ensure that the country has maintained the peace everyone prays for.

“As we join our families and friends in celebrating Christmas, participating in Carnival activities and to celebrate the New Year, please let us also remember the families these dedicated people have left behind as they ensure our overall safety,” Dr Harris said. “Those families need the company of their loved ones but that is sometimes not possible as their loved ones are out on national duties.”

The prime minister thanked members of the public for observing the Christmas activities and appealed to them to ensure that the peace is maintained even after the festive season, as that is the only way the Federation will realise the developmental and social goals it has set.

“As I said in my Christmas message to the Nation – may you be at one with your neighbours and extend a little kindness, compassion and charity this Christmas season and into the New Year,” observed the prime minister. “May God bless our security forces and their families as they continue to serve this our beloved Nation, and may He bless the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and its people.”

Leading members of the Police High Command attending the luncheon were Acting Commissioner of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Hilroy Brandy; Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime Directorate, Andre Mitchell; Acting ACP with responsibility for Operations, Adolph Adams; Director of the Forensic Department Mrs. LaToya Lake-Marshall; and the Forces Chaplain Rev Ericsson Cumberbatch.

After the luncheon, Prime Minister Harris visited the Joseph Nathaniel France General Hospital to enquire on the health and well-being of officers there.
