Dubai, UAE: Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit is in Dubai for a formal visit. During his tour, he had a meeting with the Minister of State and Managing Director for the Dubai World Expo 2020 Bid Committee.
PM Skerrit and UAE Minister Reem Al Hashimi discussed the bilateral ties and cooperations during their discussions in Dubai. Earlier, he had attended the Dubai Expo 2020, where he visited the Dominica Pavilion.
Commonwealth of Dominica and the United Arab Emirate shares a longstanding relationship. In January 2020, Dominica established its first mission to the Middle East by opening an embassy in Abu Dhabi. Following the establishment of the consulate, a visa-waiver agreement was also signed between the two countries in February 2020. As per the agreement, any United Arab Emirate passport holder can now visit Dominica without the requirement of a prior visa.
The Embassy of Dominica to the UAE (like similar entities in other jurisdictions) is committed to two primary missions: representing Government in its outreach to the host nation and facilitating consular and other similar services to citizens within its area of support.
Dominica holds diplomatic ties with more than 140 countries across the Americas, Caribbean, Asia, Africa and Europe.
