SKN lantern fetch visitors' attention at Taiwan's Lantern festival

The Lantern of St Kitts and Nevis, featuring Nevis Museum of History and Alexandar Hamilton's birthplace, alongside two youths playing the steel plan, turned out a massive attraction for the visitors at the Taipei (Capital of Taiwan) Lantern festival.

The festival was held at the Shilin district of Taipei after being continuously postponed and hiatus of one year due to the viral infection of the novel coronavirus, now became a great source for the transmission of culture for St Kitts and Nevis.

While emphasizing the beauty of St Kitts and Nevis's culture, H. E. Jasmine Huggins, the Federation's Ambassador to Taiwan, at the opening ceremony press conference, remarked that she aimed for the circulation of the rich culture of the twin-island across the globe.

"Every visitor at the festival of Taiwan should be introduced to the history and culture of St Kitts and Nevis, and that's why we choose to display it through the colourful, fun, and family-friendly event," outlined ambassador Huggins.

The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis has also appealed to the people to participate in the Taiwan Lantern Festival, known as a national event held every year in the capital of Taiwan for one week. The festival attracts millions of people over the course of the week.

Huggins further exclaimed that the country hopes the portrayal of the history and culture of the Federation at the festival will lead to an increase in knowledge and boost the tourism sector of the country.

By explaining the depiction of the culture of St Kitts and Nevis, ambassador Huggins underlined that the National Museum of the island is the great portrait of the figures from the folklore, namely, the moco jumbles, clowns, bull and masquerades. The Museum is also known as the Old Treasury Building for describing the old and rich culture of St Kitts and Nevis efficiently, added Huggins.

The magnificent portrayal of the figures has won appraisal from the people who visited and viewed the lantern as people asked a question about the culture and also expressed their desire to visit the twin island.

In The Taipei lantern, the student of St Kitts and Nevis named Jacinth Hunkins was performing and attracting the visiting with her skills on the steel pan; on the other hand, Keverne Phipps also dressed in a magnificent way in a clown costume, which fetched the attention of the visitors and entertained them with their energic moves, leads to the happiness of visitors to the event.

The Festival of Taiwan is known as an annual event held by large citizens across the country, and it began on the 15th day of the Lunar Calendar month and continued for one week.
