Prime Minister of Commonwealth of Dominica and the incoming Chairman of OECS, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit applauded the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne for his stewardship as Chairman of the body in the last few months.

During the virtual 69th meeting of the heads of authorities of the OECS, Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit stated that the world is passing through an unprecedented situation as the worldwide community is galvanized for a global pursuit of justice, honour and integrity; even as it challenges the incoherence caused by the pandemic.

Additionally, Dr Skerrit stated that the one thing that everyone can learn from this pandemic is that it is that inequality and inefficiency are the corrosive ingredients that will erase quicker the significant gains we all have made in the modern era.

Besides this, Prime Minister also congratulated Dr Timothy Harris, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis for victorious another term in the office of the government of SKN.

Furthermore, Dr Skerrit added that digitisation is extremely important in this era as people have connectivity to access government services, financial services, educational services and general information pertaining to their wellbeing.

Prime Minister Dr Skerrit even discussed reopening the borders and stated that the member nations are working in collaboration with international partners. "As we all seek to reopen our borders, there is the urgent need for close coordination among our countries, working in collaboration with our international partners," added Dr Skerrit.

He asserted that as per forecasters, 2020 hurricane season is expected to be more active and the region has to prepare likewise for the situation.

"Through our repeated experiences with catastrophes; we have become well practised. It is clear, given our geographic location, that mitigation must not be approached merely as a policy goal, but as a developmental tool," added Dr Skerrit.
