Jamaica: The police officials in St Ann, Jamaica, are investigating the murder of a 45-year-old farmer of the Cowley district in the parish. According to the reports, the victim was shot dead by his 26-year-old nephew.
The police officials have reported that the suspect is a farmer of McNie, St Ann and has been charged with killing his uncle. Nicholas Thomspon, also known as Gabba, killed his uncle Tyrone Brown, also known as Paul, on Tuesday, March 26.
The preliminary investigations have revealed that the incident took place on Tuesday morning around 6:30 am. The police said that Thompson went to visit his uncle on his farm, where he allegedly used a machete to chop the victim several times.
Following this, the suspect fled the scene while a passerby informed the police officials about the brutal incident. Upon their arrival, they found Brown with several chop wounds, following which he was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead by medical officials.
The police has launched an investigation into the incident and have also arrested the suspect who was charged after a thorough question and answer session in the presence of his lawyer.
The officials also added that the suspect would soon appear in court, during which time he would hear his sentence.
Meanwhile, the incident was criticised by citizens and residents of Jamaica who urged the government to implement strict procedures and curb the rising crime situation in the country.
“A lot of heartless bad mind family members around smh sister fighting against sister much less,” wrote a user named Maple Mcadam, while another user said, “so sad to see family killing family I wouldn’t to dream of me hurting none of the family or anyone for that matter, but family suppose to love and protect the family.”
“Too much relative killing their own, this is to tell you how evil and cruel our society is,” said another.
