MP Maynard endorses Opposition Leader's forgiveness and reconciliation message

The St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party's Parliamentary Representative for St Christopher 3 (West Basseterre), Hon Konris Maynard, has endorsed the forgiveness and reconciliation message from Labour Party leader, the Rt Hon Dr Denzil L Douglas.

The West Basseterre MP noted that in remarks at a Thanksgiving Service at the Antioch Baptist Church on Sunday 10th March in celebration of 30 years of Representation and Service to the people of Constituency 6 and the Nation, Dr Douglas took the time to reflect on the lessons of 'patience, tolerance and forgiveness learned while in opposition.'

"Our Comrade Leader said, 'I have learnt how to practice forgiveness, which is essentially important in moving forward from where you are; without forgiveness you'll be stuck forever in your own self,' Mr Maynard noted.

"All of us have someone that we ought to forgive. As we celebrate the successful political career of Dr Douglas, like him, I implore all of us to forgive those who have done us wrong in any way when they are repentant of their transgressions," said the first term parliamentarian.

He pointed to Matthew 6: 14-15 which says: 'For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15: But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins'

And Luke: 17: 3-4 which states 'So watch yourselves. 'If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. 4. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying 'I repent,' you must forgive them.'

"It is always the right time for forgiveness and reconciliation," urged Maynard.
