St Vincent and the Grenadines: The University of West Indies Seismic Research Institute reported on Wednesday that the seismic activities at the La Soufriere volcano have remained low since the last explosion and ash venting on April 22 2021.
UWI reported that the last 24-hours seismic activity was limited to a few long-period earthquakes, while the gas measurements on May 11 yielded an average Sulphur Dioxide (SOZ) flux of 252 tons per day.
Seismic Research Institute also stated that the volcano continues to be in a state of uncertainty, and an increase in activity can occur with little or no signal.
Furthermore, the Seismic Research Institute also advised people to exercise caution while crossing river valleys on the volcano due to the increased risk of mudflows during downpour days. The volcano alert continues to remain orange. People are also advised not to go near the volcano as an eruption can occur without prior signals. Only certified officials authorized can visit the volcano.Latest
