PM Philip J Pierre attends 46th Regular Meeting of CARICOM leaders in Guyana

The President of Guyana, Dr Mohamed Irfan Ali, the incoming chair of CARICOM, delivered the feature address at the Opening ceremony on Sunday and set the tone for the deliberations ahead.
Dr Carla Barnett, CARICOM Secretary-General, and Roosevelt Skerrit, the outgoing Chairman of CARICOM and Prime Minister of Dominica also joined him for the opening ceremony and further deliberation.The agenda of the meeting is to keep people and the region safe, which is a big concern everywhere. They'll also discuss how the Caribbean Countries can work together on the economy, climate change, what's happening in Haiti, and worldwide issues.
They'll be discussing plans to make sure there's enough food and to improve trade between countries in the Caribbean.
The presence of Prime Minister Pierre shows that Saint Lucia is committed to working together with other countries in the region. The representatives of the 15 participating Member states along with 5 associate member states have put up the agenda before President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the 39th President of Brazil and the Special Guest of the CARICOM meeting.He is anticipated to put some light on the solutions and to guide the member states and associate member states in resolving their issues related to the current dynamics of the problem.
This includes food security, the safety of their region, and new science and technological developments which include the latest technologies like green fuels, artificial intelligence, energy technology, and also about climate change.
The discussion will also focus on boosting intra-regional trade within the Caribbean Countries.
