Jamaican Zoey Williams becomes 1st female black pilot to fly Boeing 777 for Air Canada

Jamaica-based Zoey Williams became the first female black pilot to fly the Boeing 777 for Air Canada. The young female who was born in Southern Ontario grew up travelling the world and living abroad in Europe, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

From her childhood filled with flights across the world to conquering her fear of flying at the age of 19, Zoey's exceptional journey to this milestone is extraordinary. The young female was inspired by her father, Captain Orrett Williams, and she continues to inspire others to follow their dreams.

Not only this, Zoey William is also inspiring the youth as a singer with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra and her upcoming book, "Go Where You Belong."

It is to be noted that the female began flying at the age of 15 and received her first license at the age of 16. Alongside flying, Zoey continued to pursue higher education and also has an Advanced Diploma in Aviation Flight Management, a Bachelors in Aeronautics and Aviation Management as well as a Masters in Business Administration and specialises in Aviation and International Business.

At present, Zoey Williams is the first officer on a Boeing 777 with Air Canada is the first black female pilot at the airline. She is also an avid volunteer who holds several board positions is a keynote speaker and also a versatile musician.

Not only this, but she was also selected as the Top 20 under 40 from Wings Magazine for her contributions to the aviation industry.

While sharing her experience with Air Canada, Williams noted, "My dad mostly raised us as a single father and it was challenging as an airline pilot and when he didn't have a babysitter he would take us to work with him."

She added that after her first try in aircraft turned out to be horrible and bumpy, she was nervous and didn't enjoyed it, but ultimately, she decided to overcome her fear at the young age of 14 and realised that fear would come into her life later on which is why she needed to know how to deal with it.

Williams also shared her experience of flying and said that she feels free when she is in air. "I fly all over the world to beautiful destinations which are sunny, cold, warm etc and something just clicks when you see yourself in uniform you see somebody that looks like you."

She also said that she is happy to be an inspiration for young black girls who aspire to become something when they grow up.
