Homicide: T&T police discovers body of Hilltop Drive man in pool of blood

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: A man from Hilltop Drive was gunned down and the police have recovered his body in a pool of blood near his home on Thursday, marking another homicide in the country. He was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. It is to be noted that the deceased was identified as Reese O’Brian aged 20-year-old and a resident of Hilltop Drive in Maraval. According to the reports, it is believed that he was shot at around 3:30 pm.

As per the statement of police, people around the area heard a terrifying sound of the firing and they immediately rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found Brian lying motionless on the ground and in a pool of blood.

Noting this, they informed police and they responded to the matter and went to the crime scene. They examined the body and found gunshot wounds to his neck, chest and arm. The investigating officers recovered the body of the deceased and took him to the Port of Spain General Hospital.

The initial reports noted that Brian was killed by a man who was known to him, who also resided in the same area.

The medical practitioners treated him with a medical aid however, he died while undergoing treatment. The further investigation of the case is currently spearheaded by a team of officers from the Western Division and the Homicide Bureau.

Moreover, the police department urged the public to come forward with any information to assist them in their investigation. The news has been shared on various social media pages and many people took to their Facebook handle to express their concern regarding the spike of crimes in their country.

While reacting to the news, a person named Swaransingh Jagdeo commented, “The killing continues and the authorities are clueless to stem the bloodshed in this most murderous country in the Caribbean.”

Another FB user, by the name of Usha Seepaul wrote, “Sad…so young. Condolences to the entire family. So youth man get corn just so for nutten.”

The sudden rise in criminal activities in T&T has left the citizens fearing for their security and well-being. Additionally, the people in the Federation are definitely in a crisis, and those in authority need to take immediate action to combat the surge of crime before the island pays a heavy price.
