Guyana: A two- bedroom wooden house caught fire on Tuesday in Guyana due to the explosion of stove. A 26 years old Hemwattie Brijnhukan of Number 60 village who is residing in the Village, Corentyne Berbice narrated the story of what happened in one of the interviews.
While narrating, she told that it was Tuesday morning and she was unwell. She was living at the house with her three sons who were at the school. She was alone in the home, went to take medicine (Bico tablet).
She mentioned, after she had the medicine, she was feeling half asleep and went to sleep. She then woke up around 1:00 pm and started cooking rice. However, she continued feeling drowsy, so went again to sleep.
She added that around 2:30 pm, while she was sleeping, the rice burned out in the pot and the stove exploded, causing the two-bedroom wooden house to catch fire. As the incident happened, her relatives and neighbors spotted the blaze and rushed to rescue her, taking her out of the building.
Unfortunately, the building got completely destroyed. The Springlands Fire Station of Guyana was contacted, however, till the time they reached the scene, there was nothing left behind. Such a loss is not easy to bear.
Even, the woman residing at the home was unable to even make the estimation of what she lost. The house she was living in was completely furnished , now it is completely destroyed.
“My next move is, if I get anybody to help me to get back one house or something for them kids I would appreciate that,” she added.
