The government of Grenada has signed a major agreement with the OECS Cancer Institute in Antigua.

It will ensure a reduced price for radiology and oncology treatment.

Grenada becomes the second country to enter into a deal after Dominica.

Health Minister Nickolas Steele said the agreement gives Grenadians access to the only specialised care in the region.

“There is a fixed cost to any Grenadian citizen who seeks that treatment and, because there is a government to government arrangement to the institution, this cost is fixed at US$10,000, for the entire treatment,” he told the house of representatives.

“So not just for one visit, but one case, so where it is usually somewhere in the region of US$15,000–$20,000, abroad anywhere else, it is now available to Grenadians at US$10,000.

“And in fact, Mr Speaker, there is [sic] individuals who are already accessing that treatment as we speak at the reduced price.”
