Govt invests more than $16 million to uplift infrastructure of health sector in Nevis: Brantley

Basseterre: The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley declared that the Concerned Citizens' Movement (CCM) led Nevis Island Administration (NIA) have invested more than $16 million in the physical infrastructure of the health sector across the nation.

While notifying the significant investment, Premier Brantley cited, "Investments in physical infrastructure under your CCM led NIA in the health sector in Nevis".

Outlining the administration's investments to uplift the physical infrastructure of the medical facilities, Foreign Minister noted that they have renovated and upgraded all health centres in Nevis so that people could get basic facilities from any healthcare centre.

At the same time, great financial assistance has also been provided to the homes available for the elderly people and upgraded them to the Flamboyant Home by the Nevis administration.

Brantley said, "In the Flamboyant Homes of the older people, specialised and extraordinary kitchens have made".

He further emphasized that various projects such as New Hospital Main Kitchen Project are underway to assist the hospital staff and patients. Moreover, CCM led NIA has invested in the advancement of the Morque so that autopsies and postmortem could be done efficiently.

"The Gate House at the hospital now known as the respiratory clinic has also enhanced with the tremendous investments to make the efficient structure of the hospital," stressed Premier of Nevis.

While highlighting the admission of the new ambulances, Brantley informed that the government had constructed the double port garages with the advanced facilities to add new ambulances to facilitate the patients.

The authorities have upgraded the private wards of the hospitals in Nevis. Moreover, the advanced techniques have operated in the hospital's isolation unit so that it could facilitate the medical staff of the country. It has also boosted the level of diagnosis of diseases such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

The construction of the new hospital wing is also underway, which will provide more space to the medical staff and also enhance the medical facilities in the hospital, outlines Brantley.

Mark Brantley further emphasized that the significant investment has boosted the health sector in the country and facilitated people with quality treatment and advanced technology.
