Former Haiti Ambassador Paul Altidor to teach MIT course

Paul Altidor, former Haiti Ambassador, is working to shape the narrative throughout Diaspora groups in the United States by his new post at MIT.

While the Spring 2020 semester, Altidor will be teaching, “Engineering Planning and Diaspora Groups.” The course will concentrate on how Diaspora groups and their U.S.-born children can work as “catalysts for sustainable growth both in the United States and within the developing world.”

Altidor in May 2012, assumed the position of Ambassador Plenipotentiary & Extraordinary of Haiti to the White House.

“I came to the United States as an immigrant. The narrative of the immigrant experience and immigration process are deeply personal to my own identity,” he said.

“Notwithstanding, or maybe due to, proof that migration will remain increasing shortly, the current narrative pervading the public dialogue around immigration in the U.S. is mostly negative.
