American Airlines to start regular flights from USA to Dominica from April 2022
Dominica is moving ahead in attaining its goal of "Dynamic Dominica". On Sunday, American Airlines announced it would operate daily flights from the US Mainland to Dominica from April 2022. The news comes less than two weeks after the company commenced direct flights to Dominica from Miami. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit welcomed the decision of American Airlines; he said, "This is great news for our destination, particularly for our tourism stakeholders, who stand to benefit from increased access to the island".

Dominica is smoothly transitioning from an agriculture-based economy to a tourism-based economy. On Sunday, two cruise ships docked at the Woodbridge Bay and the Roseau Cruise Ship Terminal, bringing hundreds of tourists to shores.  Dynamic Dominica The Government of Dominica is moving ahead with plans to construct a multi-purpose administrative building in the town of Portsmouth. Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, Parliamentary Representative for the Portsmouth Constituency Ian Douglas and other Government officials toured the proposed site on Granby Street on Friday. The administrative building will house government services to include the Sub-Treasury, Post Office, Adult Education, Sports, and the District Education Office. The plan also includes offices for the Portsmouth Town Council and Mayor, the Member of Parliament, and a 500-capacity town hall on the ground floor. A working group chaired by Ian Douglas, and comprising Mayor Mrs Kerry Breedy Prince and other community leaders, will provide oversight of the project, expected to get underway within the first half of 2022. Besides this, the Government of Dominica is also partnering with Clear Harbor to expand the company's operations to Portsmouth. Clear Harbor will establish a new branch in Picard, Portsmouth, and employ more than 170 individuals in the New Year, 2022. Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit led a site visit to the Clear Harbor Call Center on Friday to observe the preparatory works ahead of the formal opening early next year. The government is covering the cost to refurbish the facility for operations to commence. The company intends to increase its staff complement at the Picard branch to 300 by May 2022. Prime Minister Skerrit also met the Clear Harbor representatives Margaret Seaman Rabess, Facilities Manager and Avril Karam, Regional Director, Human Resources.
