While congratulating Tasha P, Melissa Skerrit noted, "Congratulations
Queen Tasha P! The powerful execution of your hit calypso song 'Frenemy Remedy' placed you as the winner on the judges' score sheets and in our hearts. It is definitely woman time".
Melissa Skerrit lauded Tasha and said that her winning song Frenemy Remedy had created a soothing environment in the competition.
In the competition, Tasha P Tasha delivered a commanding performance of her song Frenemy Remedy, which is written by Gina Letang, and the song led her to win the Virtual Calypso Monarch Title. She beat the 2021 winner, Daryl Bobb and thirteen other competitors in the process.
MP of Roseau, Melissa Skerrit, further emphasized that Calypso is about social commentary and she commended Tasha for using this as an avenue to motivate women, children and society at large.
She said that "This winning song asked us to take a closer look at our friendships and supported Roman's 12:20 by illustrating perfect ways to 'heap coals of fire' on our frenemies' heads."
"Beware of frienemies! Don't confront, don't hit, don't badmouth...just kill them with kindness," outlined Melissa Skerrit.
Further, Daryl Bobb has secured the 2nd position in the competition, while Dice and the newcomer Shanice placed at the third and fourth positions, respectively.
Tasha P Tasha created history in 2011 after becoming the first female to win the Dominica Calypso Monarch title.
The Swinging Stars front-line singer has also become the first calypso artiste to win three titles in one season and also secured the Calypso Queen and Stardom Monarch of the Tent titles earlier this season.
Calypso is the type of popular Caribbean song in which the words are often invented as the song is sung and deal with the subject of interest at the present time.Latest
