In grenade attacks in India-administered Kashmir at least two people have been killed and two others armed rebels shot dead by the Indian army.
On August 5 Indian Government strip Kashmir of its autonomous status and impose tighter central control. The Indian government shut down connectivity and flooded the country's only Muslim-majority region with security forces more than three months ago.
On October 31 the Jammu and Kashmir state was turned into two federally-controlled territories by Narendra Modi-led BJP government, arguing that special provisions for the region hindered its development and fuelled a separatist movement.
Amid heightened tensions in the disputed Himalaya region, suspected rebels staged two grenade attacks on Tuesday.
Including a government official, a member of a village council were killed and four injured in one of the blasts in Badasgam village of Anantnag district where they were holding a meeting to address public grievances, police said.
When a grenade was hurled by militants the back to village programme had just got over.
The second grenade was pitched into a store next to an entrance to the University of Kashmir in Srinagar, injuring four people.
The incident took place after the security forces killed two suspected armed rebels late on Monday in Pulwama district.
According to the Indian government, normalcy had returned to Kashmir.
But dozens of political leaders remain in detention and
locals are still cut off from the internet service.
