Dominica’s 42nd Independence Day anniversary will be celebrated online, Tweets PM Skerrit

Dominica: Commonwealth of Dominica will observe 42^nd Independence Day Anniversary on November 3, 2020. The ceremony will be held at State House’s conference room instead of Windsor Park Stadium to safeguard public from the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit tweeted on Monday.

“As Dominica celebrates 42^nd Independence Day Anniversary on November 3, I wish you all good health, stay at home and watch the live broadcasting of the event from State House’s conference room on your TV, Facebook and Radio,” his tweet read.

Prime Minister also wished citizens to have good health during coronavirus crises.

Notably, the Commonwealth of Dominica gained independence on November 3, 1978. The nation became an independent nation and Britain no longer controlled the affairs of the country.

Similarly, the Commonwealth of Dominica celebrates its independence day with gusto and pride. In usual periods, the celebrations started months before leading up to festivals, parades and many other commemoration events displaying Dominica’s sound heritage and diverse culture. This year the crisis of COVID-19 changed the whole scenario of the event as people are suggested to remain at their homes for their own safety. The event will not only include fewer people but it will also maintain all the coronavirus guidelines to halt the spread of the virus.

However, Prime Minister did not speak much about the event himself, as he mentioned in his recent Anou Palay (weekly telecast), “I will speak about the independence day on November 3” and continued to discuss the much important issue of the current situation of coronavirus in the nation.

The independence event will be available to every citizen of Dominica through various channels of the government, including Facebook, Youtube, Radio and Television.
