The National Hurricane Center expects this system to intensify in a tropical storm by Tuesday before crossing Hispaniola and parts of Cuba. All of this land interaction can significantly reduce the strength of the storm. The current forecast cone does contain the Florida Keys and most of South Florida on Saturday night.
The potential tropical cyclone Six is expected to increase in a tropical storm by Tuesday, making it the sixth storm of the season in the Atlantic Ocean. At that time, the name "Fred" would be given to the storm. Before the expectation that it would be tropical storm Fred, tropical storm watches were issued to many in the Caribbean Islands. Tropical storm warnings have now been issued in areas of Virgin Islands and Dominican Republic.
This wave will cause a lot of rain this week for the islands, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. If it continues to intensify rapidly, warnings about tropical storms can be issued with little time.Tropical models take this system through the Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico before moving through the Greater Antilles and going to Florida. Heavy rain can accumulate very quickly to more than a few centimeters, which can lead to flooding.
This tropical wave is one to watch as history tells us that the tropical development zone in August is right around this place.
The national hurricane Centre has said that cyclone six could lead to heavy rainfall causing flash, urban and small stream flooding and potential mudslides across the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
